While attending medical school at St. George’s University, Dr. Kumar participated in clinical electives in the United Kingdom and Prague. During his final year, he was selected to complete a clerkship in Aerospace Medicine with NASA at Kennedy Space Center. After finishing his fellowship, Dr. Kumar worked at the Compassionate Cancer Care Medical Group in California. He was also appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Riverside, School of Medicine during this time.

Dr. Kumar has published multiple papers in peer-reviewed journals, contributing to global efforts to improve the standards of cancer care. He is also a member of multiple medical organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Medical Association (AMA), and the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin.

In addition to his work as a hematologist and oncologist, Dr. Kumar also serves with the 482nd Fighter Wing in Homestead, Florida, as a lieutenant colonel and flight surgeon/aerospace medicine specialist. He has participated in numerous training exercises and has also been deployed overseas. Dr. Kumar’s service was rewarded with the Air Force Reserve Meritorious Service Medal.
