Dr. Rachel Levenbach is a medical oncologist with a special interest in breast cancer and gynecological malignancies. She serves patients at Regional Cancer Care Associates’ location in Moorestown, New Jersey, where she provides a wide range of treatments. She has earned multiple awards for her clinical skills, dedication to patient care, and warmth and compassion as a doctor.
Dr. Levenbach sees patients for all cancer types and a variety of hematology conditions. Most of her focus, however, is on breast cancer and other gynecological malignancies. During her fellowship and residency, she participated in breast cancer clinical research. She helped pursue new breakthroughs that could improve patient outcomes.
When it comes to her care philosophy, “I am on my patient’s side,” says Dr. Levenbach. When she presents a treatment that patients do not agree with, or if patients choose not to proceed with a treatment, she always supports their decision. She also encourages patients to ask questions and express concerns about their treatment. “At the end of the day, it’s all about the patient,” she explains. “I am just here to help them.”

Dr. Levenbach was born in Cherry Hill, NJ, and still lives in the area. Because she works so close to home, she often sees her patients while running errands around her hometown. This helps her get to know and develop a broader context for them as complex human lives beyond their disease. It also builds a sense of community. To Dr. Levenbach, it is uniquely rewarding to work in a place and for people she feels so deeply connected to.
This sense of connection empowers her commitment to patient advocacy. “It’s important that we’re all on the same team,” says Dr. Levenbach, “and that we’re all supporting each other.” She consistently fights for patients’ rights to make decisions regarding their treatment.
Even more rewarding, however, is the gratitude and appreciation patients give. “Even in the saddest times, the most vulnerable times, and the hardest times of a patient’s life,” she says, “they find the strength to let me know how much they appreciate the work I do.” This appreciation is about more than her service to her patients; it’s also for the special relationship she builds with the individuals. She describes the treatment journey as something she takes with the patient.
These relationships are something Dr. Levenbach holds close to her heart. She doesn’t forget them, regardless of the treatment outcome. “That’s why being an oncologist can be hard at times,” she adds, “but it is unquestionably the most rewarding job.”
Now is an exciting time to be working in medical oncology. Cutting-edge innovations are transforming the landscape of cancer care, allowing positive outcomes that were never possible before.
Dr. Levenbach points to immunotherapy as a breakthrough that stands out. According to her, it is the most significant recent advancement in cancer treatment. This technology gives the patient’s immune system the tools it needs to fight off cancer, curing cases that were previously considered universally lethal. It also helps patients live longer than they ever have before. Patients have real hope that they might obtain the best possible care outcome – a hope Dr. Levenbach shares.
