Dr. Conti was attracted to oncology by its scientific focus. “Simply put,” he explains, “I enjoy learning.” The field is constantly moving forward with new treatments and discoveries, meaning that he always has something new to discover and explore. This passion also drives him to stay up to date with the latest developments so his patients receive state-of-the-art care and education.
“When I first began practicing oncology,” he adds, “many cancers had very limited options.” Over the years, however, many new treatments have become available. Patients enjoy a higher quality of life while managing their cancer, and many of them have the opportunity for a cure – often for diagnoses that were previously considered incurable. “I look forward to even more cancer research, leading to the ultimate goal: a cure for every cancer type.”
Dr. Conti is also dedicated to his New Jersey community. “Mountainside Medical Center is my family’s hospital,” he says, “and I have lived in this area for my entire life.” This love fuels a dedication to providing excellent care to local communities and New Jersey residents.
Dr. Conti’s dedication also fuels his care model. He not only treats patients, but he also works alongside them as their teammate, informing them of their options while supporting their final decisions. “Each person manifests cancer in a unique way,” he says, “emotionally and sometimes physically.” It is his job to get to know each individual, their goals, and their circumstances, with the understanding that the best treatment option is unique to each case.
By getting to know his patients, Dr. Conti builds relationships with them. These relationships stay strong from initial diagnosis through treatment, extending into survivorship and beyond. These relationships are ultimately what he finds most rewarding.
