Dr. Dave has treated patients in the southern New Jersey community for over 28 years. Like many other RCCA oncologists, he does not specialize in one area of oncology. Instead, he treats all types of cancer, including breast cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, and more. He also handles both benign and malignant blood disorders, providing effective treatment and management.
Patients of Dr. Dave have access to a wide array of cutting-edge cancer treatments, including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy. He also performs bone marrow aspirations as needed. This procedure can be used to diagnose a blood condition or to transplant stem cells as a treatment for many types of cancer. Regardless of the methodology, Dr. Dave’s primary goal is the patient’s comfort. He prioritizes a high quality of life through the treatment process.

Dr. Dave chose medicine because, in his words, “I always love to help people.” The field of oncology is unique in this regard. It poses unique challenges, but helping patients overcome these is rewarding in a way other areas of medicine cannot match.
“Before the year 2000,” says Dr. Dave, “almost 30 percent of patients ended up in the hospital for side effects of chemotherapy.” Even the most effective cancer treatments came with harsh side effects like nausea, vomiting, dehydration, or a heightened risk of infection. These effects led to health problems and further hospitalizations. Recent advances in cancer care, however, have led to better treatments with fewer downsides. “Now, only two percent go to the hospital.”
Medical advancements have not been limited to improving existing methodologies. Dr. Dave describes targeted therapies as “like a guided missile.” Based on molecular biology, these treatments use characteristics unique to cancer cells to target them precisely. Immunotherapy is another new treatment, which provides the patient’s immune system with instructions to combat cancer.
These methods can be combined with others, including surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy. Called biphasic treatment, this combined approach delivers even better benefits than one treatment method used on its own.
The advancements have turned formerly terminal diagnoses into manageable conditions. “I now have patients in complete remission from Stage IV lung cancer,” adds Dr. Dave, “five years out, and if they relapse, I give them something else, and they will again go into remission.”
When planning a treatment, Dr. Dave believes the most important thing to keep in mind is the patient’s choice. He always begins by presenting the patient with different options, complete with the risks and benefits associated with each. This empowers the patient to make their own informed decisions about care, rather than Dr. Dave deciding for them.
He also tries to maintain a high quality of life for the patient. Even with scientific advances, cancer treatment is emotionally and physically difficult. It is his priority to keep patients as comfortable as possible through this period.
