Deep S. Garg, MD, is a triple-board-certified physician who serves with Regional Cancer Care Associates (RCCA). As the Medical Director of the Cancer Rehabilitation and Wellness Division in Edison, New Jersey, she devotes her extensive knowledge and experience to helping patients recover from various cancer types and medical conditions. She works with the patient’s medical team to manage symptoms such as pain, neuropathy, fatigue and general side effects of treatment as well as preventing or minimizing the functional decline that often accompanies many therapeutics. Rehabilitation physicians coordinate care with other members of a patient’s care team, including oncologists and hematologists. This collaborative, multi-modality approach helps patients manage their symptoms effectively, improving their experience through treatment and beyond.

While completing her residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine at Elmhurst Hospital, Dr. Garg was awarded the Intern of the Year and Outstanding First-Year Resident Award. She was also the recipient of a prestigious NIMH grant to study post-stroke depression at the University of California, San Diego and served as an assistant professor at the Loma Linda University Medical Center where she was responsible for training numerous medical students and residents.

Dr. Garg is a dynamic physician with triple board certifications. Before joining the Regional Cancer Care Associates (RCCA) team, she was previously the Director of Traumatic Brain Injury and Polytrauma Rehabilitation in Loma Linda, California. She was also an assistant professor at the Loma Linda University Medical Center and responsible for training numerous medical students and residents. From this prior position, she brings a wealth of experience in rehabilitation.

Pursuing this goal, Dr. Garg developed the Cancer Rehabilitation program at RCCA Edison. This beautiful, modern space houses a range of treatment options designed to reduce and manage symptoms both during and after treatment. It offers a wide variety of options to manage pain and symptomology with an emphasis on personalized treatment plans that combine multiple methods. This individualized approach further enhances the patient’s experience.
Dr. Garg has also introduced a Wellness component to RCCA Edison. Built upon years of experience with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and botulinum toxin (Botox) therapies, she aims to address functional and aesthetic concerns. Hair loss and facial sculpting help patients stay confident in their appearances and strategic messaging spreads awareness of the relationship between obesity and increased cancer rates.
Dr. Garg has been certified as a fitness and Zumba instructor since 2009 and offers free classes to the community on a bi-monthly basis at RCCA Edison. She is an outspoken advocate of healthy exercise and movement for all, both to improve wellness and to prevent avoidable health issues. Dr. Garg sums up her approach succinctly: “Be well. Live well.”
