About Corinne DeSevo
Corinne DeSevo has worked in oncology care for over 31 years, starting as a bedside registered nurse (RN). This decades-long experience has shaped her approach to patient care.
“Early in my career,” says Corinne, “I learned that a diagnosis does not define a person.” Patients do not let go of their goals, passions, values, concerns, and connections in the face of their diagnosis. To Corinne, understanding this is vital. In her words, “Providing meaningful care requires taking the time to listen, observe, and understand each patient as an individual.” By getting to know her patients, she is better able to support them in the ways they need.
Getting to know patients starts with trust. Corinne begins care by helping patients and their families understand what to expect. “My role is not only to provide medical care,” she explains, “but also to guide patients through the uncertainty of their cancer journey.” She discusses the challenges of treatment with compassion and clear explanations so that patients feel supported.
Since advancing in her career as a nurse practitioner, Corinne has been able to expand her role. In addition to providing patient support, she is also equipped for clinical decision-making. She strives to make strategic and thoughtful decisions that align with their goals, giving patients agency in their care.
