BRCA testing, in particular, can help determine whether a woman is at risk for developing breast cancer in her lifetime. In fact, about 15% of all cases diagnosed are genetically linked. That\u2019s why BRCA test results continue to empower women and their families to take early action against breast cancer.\nNeoadjuvant Chemotherapy\nFinally, many oncologists have been administering neoadjuvant chemotherapy as one of the first lines of defense for breast cancer. Instead of performing surgery right away, they\u2019ll use chemo to significantly shrink the tumor. \u201cBy shrinking the tumor as much as possible and then doing surgery, we end up having very little disease to work with,\u201d said Dr. Usha Niranjan of RCCA\u2019s office in Hackettstown, N.J.
