Maqsood Amjad, MD
Dr. Maqsood Amjad is a board certified hematologist and medical oncologist who specializes in the management of a wide variety of cancers and blood disorders. He has been treating patients in the Somerset, Middlesex and Union Counties for more than 15 years. He is actively involved in clinical research as a community oncologist.
Dr. Amjad received his medical degree from King Edward Medical University, Lahore, Pakistan. He has completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois, an affiliate of University of Illinois and his fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (UMDNJ-RWJMS), New Brunswick, New Jersey, where he also served as the Chief Fellow. After completing his fellowship, he joined Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey faculty as a Clinical Instructor.
Dr. Amjad serves as the Chief of Oncology at RWJUH-Somerset and as the Division Director of Oncology at JFK Medical Center, Edison, New Jersey. He is also the chairman of the Cancer Committee at RWJUH-Somerset and serves on the IRB and Credentials committees. He is on staff as a clinical Assistant Professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (UMDNJ-RWJMS). He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the American Society of Hematology (ASH). He is a member of the professional advisory board of the Cancer Support Community of Central Jersey.
